Location:Old Ministry of Justice Building
Storyline
In 1933, Japan's split with the West deepens, setting the country on the road to war. At this time, the Navy Department is secretly working on a plan to build the world's largest battleship, but some in the ministry oppose the plan. Navy Major Isoroku Yamamoto attempts to demonstrate the folly of this plan by calculating what a waste of the national budget the construction of a giant battleship would be. Yamamoto asks Tadashi Kai, a former Imperial University mathematician, for help. An unprecedented battle of wits between a genius mathematician and the Navy has begun.
Making of the film
The film was shot in the old main building of the Ministry of Justice.
The interior of the building was decorated to mimic the Navy Department of the time.
Several vehicles reminiscent of the pre-war period lined up outside the building, creating an incongruous scene in modern-day Tokyo.
