Yanagi Bridge

Movie
Asakusa,Ueno,Yanaka
The place university professor Peter Kirk (Bill Pullman) jumps off at the beginning of the movie “The Grudge” (2004) is located in a corner of the Yanagi Bridge neighborhood in Taito Ward. From the nearby Yanagi Bridge, which is the first bridge from the mouth of the Kanda River, you can gaze downstream at the confluence of Kanda River and Sumida River. A daily flow of people cross the bridge that straddles the boundary between Chuo Ward and Taito Ward. Because the area was once a flourishing red-light district, embellishments in the shape of flower hairpins adorn the railings of the bridge. Yakatabune (Japanese-style houseboats) are usually moored alongside the river but can sometimes be seen coming and going under the bridge. This location still has the nostalgic atmosphere of Edo.
