Tama River Green Space Whale Sports Park
Drama
Tama Central Area
Tama River Green Space Whale Sports Park in Akishima City is featured in the drama series “BG: Personal Bodyguard” (2018). In episode 3, Akira Shimazaki (Takuya Kimura) and Masaya Takanashi (Takumi Saito) are escorting Mitsuhide Bando (Masahiko Nishimura) when their car makes a stop at the park. The vast river terrace of the Tama River Green Space Whale Sports Park is equipped with baseball fields, softball fields, tennis courts, free spaces, and walking courses. The name of the park comes from the discovery of an ancient whale fossil in 1961 under the railroad bridge of the JR Hachiko Line, which runs nearby. Freshwater fish such as char and Japanese fluvial sculpin can be observed at the Tamagawafureai Aquarium (free of charge), which uses treated wastewater.
