Stage of the Council in “Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High”
Waseda Scott Hall
Shinjuku
Movie
Waseda Scott Hall in Shinjuku Ward is featured in the movie “Teiichi: Battle of Supreme High” (2017). The council scene—the climax of the movie—as well as other scenes such as the student council election were filmed at the hall. A chapel and auditorium, Scott Hall was the first building erected in Waseda Hoshien, a facility that has a history of more than 100 years, thus endowing it with a highly symbolic value. The hall, which is often used as a chapel as well as for wedding ceremonies and music concerts, is characterized by a red-brick exterior, high ceilings, and a wooden interior that gives it a relaxed atmosphere as well as great acoustics. It survived both the Great Kanto Earthquake and the Great Tokyo Air Raid, and its appearance has remained mostly unchanged ever since its construction in the Taisho era. Scott Hall was designated as a historical building by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.
