In the movie "Second Summer, Never See You Again", we filmed in the Tachikawa Souzousha in Tachikawa city. Tachikawa Souzousha used to be an elementary school, but is currently used as a multi purpose space for cultural activities. During the school-themed filmings, we were normally forced to use multiple locations to make up one school scene due to many restrictions in filiming in a school. However, we were able to shoot all school scenes at this place without any interruption, and completed all the school scenes here as we were able to use this facility on weekdays and at night.
In addition, filming the studio scene at the music shop was difficult because the real music practice studio was too small. To compensate, we decorated the music room in this facility to look like a practice studio and filmed all the scenes there. What was most memorable for me when shooting the school scenes here were, the corridor and the rooftop. The corridor was used for the scene where Satoshi (Nijiro Murakami) and Rin (Madoka Yoshida) run toward the School Culture Festival in the ending scene. Other hallways were surrounded by classrooms and did not have enough light, but the corridor had big windows and was very bright, so there was a good contrast. On the rooftop, we filmed a very important scene which was right before the end. This was a very heavy scene, but we had to film it at an early stage of our filming. It was raining on the day of the shooting so we had to be flexible avoiding the rain, but the two worked really hard and it became a very good scene as a result. The drama "The Easygoing Police"(2014) uses the "Ota Ward Shimon first elementary school" as it's location for"Tamagawa Mirai Park". The former Tama River elementary school site is used as a place "primarily for childer and others to gather, enjoy, and learn" through a program for the citizens.

Located in Tachikawa the "Faret Tachikawa" is used in the drama "Dandarin Rules" (2013) fo the scence where Kurumizawa Kai (Shunsuke Kazama) asks whether Rin Danda (Yuko Takeuchi) has moved jobs to Kazuya Minamisanjo (Tori Matsuzaka). It was also used for the scene where Minamisanjo walks back and Danda buys dinner.

Tachikawa's "Sun Sun Road" sets the scene for the drama "Dandarin Rules" (2013) as the location that was used in a conversation scene. As an automotive and pedestrian road along the Tama city monorail, and lined with plated trees and flowers, it's a recommened place to take a walk when the weather is good.

The western Tokyo police station that Doteyama Ikuo (Kazuki Kitamura) and Komiya Ruriko (Reina Triendl) visited in the 2013 drama "Dandarin Rules", is located here in Tachikawa City Hall.

In the movie "Theater version of miracle of the banned list Ende~yumion Certain Magical" (2012), Shirai Kuroko's narration cut is used for the scene where Misaka Mikoto runs at "JR Tachikawa Station North Exit".

The science museum where Takeru was in the 16th episode of the drama series "Ressha Sentai ToQger" (2014) is the "Tamarokuto Science Center." It is equipped with an inclined dome that is the fourth-largest dome in the world. It is an experience-oriented science museum and is registered as the "most advanced planetarium" in the Guinness Book of World Records.

One of the shooting locations for the drama series "A Letter from Sakura - The story at graduation for each AKB48 member" (2011) is here at the "Nishitokyo City Hoya Komorebi Hall."

Higashikurume is the setting of the manga "Higashi no Kurume to Tonari no Meguru". In Higashikurume, there are many places that appears in the story, such as the banks of Ochiai River, Daienji Temple, and Koyamadai Iseki Park. Many places are depicted in manga as they are, so it would be fun to walk around the area with a copy of the book.

I actually lived there from when I was nine until I was 28. Residents of the complex I know from back then came to have a look at the filming and congratulate my efforts. They welcomed me back in a somewhat jubilant fashion.’

Director Koreeda explains that ‘not becoming what one wants to become is exactly what also happened with the apartment complexes.’ As a result of a former ambition to expand the development of housing complex areas, apartment complexes were erected all over Japan. However, they are now deteriorating, and their residents are aging. We are forced to concede that the present situation is far different from the initial vision. To the gloomy picture of these apartment complexes, director Koreeda superimposes the painful image and nostalgia of characters who couldn’t become what they once wanted to become.

In the movie 'AKKO-CHAN: The Movie' (2012), the stockholders' meeting of the company Akko (Haruka Ayase) works for is held in this 'Higashiyamato Humming Hall'. In the weekends, there are various events held in the hall such as concerts and workshops, and I would like to enjoy those events together with the location tour of the movie by checking the schedule.
