The blue bridge that Tetsuya Ishigami (played by Shinichi Tsutsumi) crosses on his way to work in the film "Suspect X" (2008) is the “Kiyosu Bridge” over the Sumida River. The bridge was built by utilizing cutting edge technology of the time as a symbol of the Reconstruction Project of the Imperial Capital following the Great Kanto Earthquake, and is designated as a national important cultural asset, along with the Eitai Bridge and the Kachidoki Bridge. The suspension bridge designed in feminine and graceful form is illuminated in pink light in the evening.

Nihombashi is where the movie “The Wings of the Kirin” (2012) was filmed. Many scenes in the movie was filmed in Nihombashi area, including Nihombashi Bridge where the story starts. One of the attractions offered by Nihombashi area is that it has many shops and spots that feature the Edo culture and atmosphere while it is situated in an urban setting. Why not enjoy a stroll of the town and find filming locations?

The Imperial Palace in Chiyoda Ward is featured in the race scene that takes place in “Cars 2” (2011). In the first World Grand Prix race which takes place in Tokyo, the automobiles charge past the Imperial Palace. Meiji Shrine, Rainbow Bridge, Tokyo Station, and many other famous Tokyo landmarks can also be seen. Director John Lasseter minutely observed the landscape and cityscape when he visited Japan. As a result, Tokyo’s exotic features are accurately reproduced in the computer graphics.

Kanda Shrine in Chiyoda appears as Nozomi Tojyo's home in anime "Love Live!". The shrine is known as the Edo Sochinju (center of the local deities in Tokyo) and still worshipped as a local deity by 108 towns such as Nihonbashi and Akihabara. In the back of the Shrine, there is Otoko Zaka which the members of μ's did the trainings. The Kanda festival in 2014, which celebrated the 400th year of relocation of the deity to the current location was held in collaboration with "Love Live!".

Main gateway to Tokyo, the station boasts the greatest number of platforms in Japan. All services were fully restored following the completion of the restoration in 2012. The red-brick Marunouchi Station Building, designed by architect Kingo Tatsuno et al., was designated as a national Important Cultural Property. As you visit the location, take some time to casually stroll around the Ekinaka (inside the station) area of Tokyo Station City. You’ll find an unlimited choice of Japanese and Western restaurants as well as sweets, ekiben (station box lunch), and gourmet specialties that can only be found at Tokyo Station. Come visit Tokyo Station Gallery where various exhibitions are held and where you’ll find the well-known brick wall that embodies the history of Marunouchi Station Building.

The izakaya featured in the drama series “My "Girlfriend"” (2015) is Suidobashi Torifuku in Chiyoda Ward. The scene in which Keisuke Takashima (Yosuke Asari) is having a meal with Isamu Ota (Tomomi Maruyama) in the first episode was filmed at the restaurant. Torifuku’s menu features the rich and tasty flavor of chicken meat in carefully prepared mizutaki (pot dish cooked at the table) meals and skewers grilled to perfection over charcoal. The authentic taste of the fresh and carefully selected ingredients the chicken-specialty restaurant uses to prepare the various dishes it offers can truly be appreciated. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of shochu and sake. Stop by with colleagues or friends on the way back from work, or on the weekend with that special someone to enjoy delicious chicken dishes.

In the first episode of the drama series “Hanasaki Mai Speaks Out” (2014), Mai Hanasaki (Anne) and Soma Ken (Takaya Kamikawa) have a meal at Kanda Matsuya in Chiyoda Ward. The long-standing soba restaurant, a favorite of popular novelist and gourmet Shotaro Ikenami, was established in 1884. During filming, actress Anne Watanabe also came to feast on the restaurant’s signature dish. Come taste the exquisite handmade noodles served at the well-known restaurant that prides itself in preserving the authentic taste of Edo soba.

In the movie "The Great Passage" (2013), Mitsuya Majime (Ryuhei Matsuda) drinks with his colleagues after finishing work, and this is the bar "Izakaya Yoinosuke Jinbocho-ten". The bar is also often used for TV commercials, and famous in the Jinbocho town for 30 years. It is surrounded in a nostalgic atmosphere somehow and I would like to go for a drink with my friends like a movie.

The café featured in the drama series “99.9 Criminal Lawyer” (2016) is Hibiya Saroh and is located in Hibiya Park, Chiyoda Ward. The scene in which Haruhiko Madarame (Ittoku Kishibe) scouts Hiroto Miyama (Jun Matsumoto) in the first episode was filmed at the café. Scenes from several other drama series were also filmed at the Hibiya Saroh, which, as a famous location within the metropolitan area, is visited by many fans. The café was founded in 1949. The long-standing café features a pleasant open terrace which, for a café, is possibly Japan’s first. Draft beer from Germany, Belgium, and many other countries from all over the world is on tap. Some are only available here. In addition, the café’s premium fresh cream soft serve ice cream received the highest ranking (three stars) of the iTQi’s Superior Taste Award. Hibiya Saroh has an extensive Western-style menu which includes dishes such as the popular Japanese-style omelet on rice, a classic offered ever since the café was founded. On a fine day, enjoying a beer and a meal on the open terrace of the café and surrounded by the nature of Hibiya Park is an experience that is hard to forget.

Gakushi Kaikan Hotel in Chiyoda Ward is featured in the last episode of the drama series “Hanzawa Naoki” (2013). The memorable scene in which Naoki Hanzawa (Masato Sakai) forces Managing Director Owada (Teruyuki Kagawa) to kneel down and apologize was filmed in room 201 of the hotel. Gakushi Kaikan was established in 1928 as a place for graduates (members) of the former imperial universities to meet and exchange. The steel-framed reinforced concrete construction, which was quite unusual at the time, was built as part of the reconstruction efforts that followed the Great Kanto Earthquake. The building exudes the modern and massive architecture of yesteryears and was designated as a national Tangible Cultural Property in 2003. Apart from some areas of the building, Gakushi Kaikan is open to the general public so that anyone can enjoy lunch, dinner, or a stay over.

The place where the uncle (Ryuhei Matsuda) and Yukio Haruyama (Riku Onishi) take a break on their ‘thinking journey’ in the movie “My Uncle” (2016) is the Onna-zaka [literally translated as Girl’s Slope] in Kanda, Chiyoda Ward. ‘The atmosphere of the nearby Otoko-zaka [literally translated as Man’s Slope] was also appealing, but I chose the Onna-zaka over because of its slightly bent portion which made it a perfect spot for the two protagonists to sit and have a break. I also thought Onna-zaka was a better location because I saw students belonging to the female rugby club of a nearby university training hard at the Otoko-zaka. That made it impossible for me to consider the slope as an appropriate resting spot.
Later, I filmed scenes at the nearby Tamura Bookstore, a fine second-hand bookstore in Jinbocho. I think the charm of this bookstore lies in its appearance. Multiple stacks of seemingly complex books are piled up, and a number of handwritten price tags are stuck here and there. Putting a hopeless manga-reading grown-up among all these books makes him look a little smart… doesn’t it? Anyhow, I chose this place to try to create this kind of impression. While filming at the bookstore, I found a book titled ‘Morio Kita’s World: New Commentary, Special Edition’ [unofficial translation] near the entrance. I spent a lot of time reading it at the hotel during filming in Hawaii. The book provided me with quite a few ideas I could use when directing the uncle character.’

The old Manseibashi Station in Chiyoda is where Umeko Shimomura (Maki Horkita), Yayoi Sawada (Eri Tokunaga) and Shinichi Yamakura (Manosuke Mishima) from NHK morning drama "Umechan Sensei" (2012) watches street televisions. You'll be surprised to hear that the crowd watching TV in the scene was generated on the river using computer graphics. Manseibashi Station used to be a stop on JR Chuo Line from 1912 to 1944. Nowadays, the platform of the station is renovated as a deck and turned into a commercial facility. There are historically valuable remnants of the old railway architectures here and there and you get a sense of the station at the time.

“Marunouchi Park Building” was featured as the headquarters of Tokyo Daiichi Bank, where the heroine of the drama, “Hanasaki Mai Speaks Out” (2014), Hanasaki Mai, played by Anne works.

In the movie “You Only Live Twice” (1967), enemy organization Osato Chemicals uses Hotel New Otani Tokyo in Chiyoda Ward as their hideout. The scene in which James Bond (Sean Connery) sneaks into the hotel was filmed in the area of the hotel called The Main. The hotel opened in 1964, the same year the Tokyo Olympics were held. Even though the hotel has undergone major renovations since the filming, some of the original features shown in the movie can still be seen. Among others: the entire structure and the entrance. The hotel, one of the most luxurious in Japan, is renowned for its 360-degree view revolving restaurant as well as for its lush Japanese garden.

The scene from the movie "Tokyo Newcomer" (2012), which Kimie (Chieko Baisho) picks up a go stone that Yoshiryu (Qin Hao) drops was shot at Kanda Shrine located in Chiyoda. The shrine has a history of 1300 years and still worshipped as a local deity by 108 towns including Kanda and Nihonbashi. There are varieties of events held throughout the year and it is highly recommended to check the event schedule before paying a visit.
